Welcome by Principal
Dear Parents and Students,
I am genuinely thrilled to welcome you back to GBS campus.
It has been a challenging period for all of us during the pandemic to maintain
the level of engagement, the motivation, and the quality of learning. However,
the GBS community has shown resilience, persistence, and a high degree of trust
and collaboration to ensure the continuum of the school mission and vision;
hereby I cannot show but pride and appreciation for being part of this
community.
Despite the challenges in 2020-2021, I truly believe that it
was an opportunity to foster the implementation of GBS Guiding Statements which
had a great impact on the students’ learning outcomes. Our school was
reaccredited by CIS in November and we were commended on our swift transition
to remote learning, and on the genuine efforts exerted by the staff to create a
balance between academics and the students’ wellbeing. This was an evident acknowledgment that our
practices are aligned with our Guiding Statements where student’s interest is
our main priority. Furthermore, our first batch of twelfth graders graduated in
these exceptional circumstances; a new generation that I am sure will make a
difference in the future.
Al-Ghanim Bilingual School will continue to value quality
over quantity, to enhance communication and collaboration between community
members to foster the importance of implementing new teaching strategies, to
utilize adequate digital tools to ensure the students’ wellbeing, and to
improve their engagement and academic performance.
In Middle School, we seek a balance between a rigorous
academic program and the development of global citizens. Students take a
variety of core subjects including English, Arabic, Math, Science in addition
to other non-core subjects such as PE, IT, Religion, Quran, Kuwait Social
Studies, Art and Music. Creative Writing, French, and Geography are also
introduced to students providing a well-rounded and balanced program. Students
will participate in different events and a variety of activities that support
learning and that are aligned with their needs and interests.
The High School division offers a breadth of courses that
allow students to have a solid academic foundation, to explore their interests,
and to develop them in other complementary areas. The students will be fully
supported throughout their journey to meet their graduation requirements and to
be ready for university.
GBS Leadership team and staff are working towards fulfilling
the vision of “Developing independent, confident, lifelong learners”. Together,
as a school community, we will strive to ensure that our students receive the
support and the guidance required to reach their potential.
Looking forward for an amazing new year 2021-2022!
Regards,
Ms. Rola Farhat
