The School Year/School Hours: The school year consists of two semesters, between 170-180 days in total. The school calendar includes all Islamic and Kuwaiti national holidays, a week long Spring Break in April, and a two-three week Winter Break in December through early January. Each school year is slightly different because of the non-fixed dates of holidays in the Islamic Calendar. The school day begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. for the Kindergarten teachers, 2:35 p.m. for Elementary, Middle, and High School teachers. After-school faculty PD and departmental meetings are held weekly and end by 3:30 p.m.

Supportive team: GBS offers a supportive environment for teachers and offers children a nurturing atmosphere to learn and grow. Teacher schedules include two to three free periods per day for preparation, meeting with colleagues, and professional development work. Kindergarten teachers have a teaching assistant to help with classroom preparation, work with small groups of children during class time, and other tasks. Young teachers who are starting their career will appreciate the team spirit and the mentoring offered by older teachers on the team. 

Colleagues: There are many nationalities represented on the school staff. GBS staff members speak several languages, with the vast majority communicating easily in English. This cultural diversity provides an enriching experience.

Class size: Class size is set at a maximum of 25 students per class; however classes are frequently smaller.

Commitment to technology: All classrooms at GBS have been fitted with interactive whiteboards, an internet connection, and laptops. The school is committed to continuous development in technology.

Professional development: PD is an integral part of working at GBS. A variety of professional development opportunities in Kuwait and at international conferences are offered to teachers. This gives teachers a unique chance to develop their professional skills.

Students: GBS students are known to be well behaved and motivated to learn. The vast majority are well travelled Kuwaitis who like and respect expats. Our students tend to be intelligent, creative, and active learners who graduate literate in both their native Arabic and English. We are particularly proud to mention that our graduates remain loyal to the school and to their teachers and frequently come to visit after they leave GBS. They express thanks to their teachers for the strong foundation they acquired at GBS.
